Thanks to a generous contribution by the Oakland County Chinese Language and Culture Initiative, an introduction to Chinese Language and Culture is offered to Green (Kindergarten) and Gretchko (Kindergarten & 1st Grades) Elementary Schools during the school day.

Also because of this grant, we are able to offer Chinese instruction at Orchard Lake Middle School after school in the form of a Chinese Club.

Additional opportunities in language instruction at the elementary level exist after school through Community Education.

Sequential world Languages instruction in the West Bloomfield School District begins in the middle grades with opportunities to learn Spanish, Japanese, or French starting at grade 7.  These classes align with the high school classes.  Therefore, students who successfully complete the Level 1 sequence and pass the district's competency assessment while in middle school are granted the high school credit.

Language instruction continues through high school with instruction in Spanish, Japanese, and French through the Advanced Placement levels.
